Our Name

Names are important, they should describe the person or entity with which they are associated, and we are named Fellowship United Methodist Church for a reason.

We believe that "fellowship" is more than hanging out or being in the same place at the same time.  Fellowship is even more than friendship.  Real fellowship happens as we experience all of life together – together with God and with one another.  It is an idea and way of life that has been God’s desire for humanity since the beginning of time.  The most concise biblical example of fellowship, and the one from which we take our name, dates back from over 2000 years ago:

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.  All the believers were together and had everything in common.  Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.  (Acts 2.42-47 NIV).

As a United Methodist Church our emphasis is:  1) personal transformation through a deep and growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ and 2) social transformation as we join with God’s work of reconciling all of creation back to Himself.  Fellowship United Methodist Church supports the beliefs and social principles of the United Methodist Church

Good Friday

24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,[a] through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Romans 3:24-26 (NIV)

Peace- proving that you care more about others than winning an argument

The Good, the Bad, and the Peaceful

"Starting to argue is like making a crack in a dam. So drop the matter before a fight breaks out" (Proverbs 17:14, NIrV).

Will kids be going back to school in August where you live? What does "back to school" bring to mind? New Toughskins(R) jeans? Football games? Seeing your friends again? Homework and tests? Dreading the hard teacher? Gathering 'round to watch as a fight breaks out?
