Monday Meanderings - Sept 14, 2009

I have gained a new appreciation for reflection.  Reflecting on where I am in life and ministry, the great things that I have the opportunity to be a part of as well as the struggles of life.

So today I will begin what I intend to be a weekly habit of "meandering" through the jumbled up mess of my mind and then attempting to bring some sense of order to it by journeling it here in this blog space.  You are invited to join me on this journey, but I will warn you ahead of time, being in the mind of an church plant pastor can be a scary place sometimes.

10 THINGS THAT WERE GREAT ABOUT YESTERDAY

1.  To see the happiness on Cathi's face as her friends and family came to help her celebrate her birthday.  I am horrible a party planning but thanks to great neighbors and friends who picked up my slack, it was a pretty good shindig (if I do say so).

2.  Watching Emma being consumed by excitement and joy as she helped me buy the party favors and set up for Cathi's party.

3.  Seeing the people of Fellowship Church come together to celebrate Holy Communion.  Some were in tears, some were humble, some were excited, some joyful and one little guy, Nolen McKinstry, came through the line to receive twice!  Oh, that we would all be so eager for more of Jesus.

4.  Holding baby Avery as see went to sleep in my arms.

5.  Watching Avery wake up, looking at me with love and trust in her eyes, and being filled with love for her at that very moment.

6.  Seeing both of our kids in the same room at the same time.

7.  People sharing with me how they have come to a new appreciation of Holy Communion.

8.  The beginning of our newly structured student ministry with new curriculum tailored for both middle and high school students.

9.  Being blown away (again) at just how generous some people are when they realize how generous God is to them.

10.  Hugging and kissing Cathi.
