During the week of Thanksgiving our family went camping in the mountains of north Georgia and I was reminded of few things that I need to remember every once in a while.
- Full-time ministry is a privilege but it takes a lot of a person and to be your best you need some rest. I don't imagine this is any different than with other careers but the consequences seem to be greater to me. Ministry is a calling to things eternal.
- I have the best friends anyone could ask for. Some of them were camping with us and we got to spend some much needed time together; I wish it could have been longer. Most of them were not camping with us and they told me they were praying for us to be rested and renewed. Just don't get any better than that.
- I absolutely, unconditionally, totally, completely love my granddaughters. I am so thankful for our children, Cortner and Ann Dee, and our son-in-law, Joey, but Emma and Avery have my heart wrapped around their little fingers in a way I never thought possible. If you are a grandparent you know what I mean.
- I absolutely, unconditionally, totally and completely love my wife. I love what God has called me to do and I could not do it without Cathi. Time with her is precious and I cherish it.
- Cycling in the mountains is a glimpse of heaven. If you know me, you know I really like cycling (some say I am obsessed) and it just doesn't get any better than in the mountains in the cool of late Autumn.
Nothing that is life-changing but things that are certainly reflective of my life. I hope you took some time to be reminded of things in your life as well. |
