Things I learned and relearned in 2009
I have found it helpful to take a few moments every once in a while to reflect back and consider the things I have learned and, oftentimes, relearned.  Here is a partial list of what God, life and many of you have taught me or reminded me of this past year.
  • God is in charge.  Any questions?
  • Dogs can teach us a lot about how to love unconditionally.
  • Kids and grandkids are some of the best gifts God gives us.
  • Driving an old, junky car on purpose is a pretty cool thing.
  • The music of Lynyrd Skynryd and the Alman Brothers lives on.
  • I never fail to learn something new when I study the scriptures.
  • Depression can be debilating.
  • It is really, really difficult (perhaps impossible) to define life in "black and white."
  • Diversity is a beautiful thing.  It is pleasing to God also.
  • My marriage just keeps getting better.
  • I married above my potential.
  • Never, never take your health for granted.  If you don't do anything about your health, it WILL decline.
  • None of us is perfect, except through God's grace.
  • Relationships must be nurtured and the reward is phenominal.
  • It is a blessing to experience the world through the eyes of a 5 year old.
  • It is important to be content in life.  But, being content is not the same as settling for less.
  • God most definately has a sense of humor.
  • God rarely reveals what He has planned, but He does reveal who He is.
  • Instead of worry about who God will forgive and who He will not, we should pray He forgives us all.
  • God has a purpose and plan for everyone and real happiness only comes when we are aligned with His plan and purpose.
  • I need others and others need me.
  • God loves me just the way I am, but too much to leave me that way.

I wonder what you and I will learn and relearn this coming year?

Peace in 2010,

Kenny

Where Jesus Walked - A Retrospective
Once in a lifetime events have a way of changing your life.  While I don't fully understand the effects of my trip to the Holy Land I have certainly been changed in many ways.

Good Friday

24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,[a] through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Romans 3:24-26 (NIV)

Peace

Peace- proving that you care more about others than winning an argument

The Good, the Bad, and the Peaceful

"Starting to argue is like making a crack in a dam. So drop the matter before a fight breaks out" (Proverbs 17:14, NIrV).

Will kids be going back to school in August where you live? What does "back to school" bring to mind? New Toughskins(R) jeans? Football games? Seeing your friends again? Homework and tests? Dreading the hard teacher? Gathering 'round to watch as a fight breaks out?
