Are you Fickle?
O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you. Psalm 89:8         Spring is such a fickle time of year.  One day the sun is shining and it is warm.  Then you awake next morning to cold temperatures and rain.  I am tired of the cold and rain, and I want the warmth that comes with spring.  I want to sit on my porch, in the early morning, listen to the birds, watch the squirrels frolic in the trees, and spend my quiet time with God outside.  I guess I could wrap myself in a blanket and go sit outside, but it is not the same…I am uncomfortable and the enjoyment is not there.  Guess I’ll just have to wait a few more weeks.
There is a lot of “I” in the above descriptions; maybe just a little too much “I”. As I sit and ponder this morning, in the comfort of my den, and wish for the warmth of spring, I begin to think about God and how we choose or not choose to spend time with God.  What is the basis for our choice?  Do we only spend time with God when it is comfortable and convenient?  Maybe, we too, can be described as being fickle when it comes to a relationship with God.
Fortunately, God is not fickle when it comes to us…God is faithful.  God could have given up on this human race, but God chose not to.  God chose to send Jesus to earth to save us from ourselves.  As we come closer to Easter morning, sit and think (ponder) your relationship with God. What is it that you want in your relationship with God?   What are you willing to give up or do to make your relationship with God stronger?
Prayer:  Precious Lord, thank you for not giving up on me.  I know that there are times that I do not spend as much time with you as I should.  Help me to do better and to make time for you whether or not it is comfortable or convenient.  Amen
