We are each created for a purpose. At Fellowship Church we believe that the reason we are created is to love God, love one another and support one another as we go through life together. This belief comes from the life and teaching of Jesus. Jesus tells us that he lived, died and was resurrected so that you can have real and eternal life, more and better life than you could ever image (John 10.10). Sometimes our search for a fulfilling life is mysterious and disappointing, but Jesus gives us a simple plan for discovering and living a life that is beyond your imagination. He tells us that real life is characterized by a deep and growing relationship with God (John 17.3). He also teaches us the simple steps to experiencing this life – love God, love others and love yourself and then help others to do the same (Matthew 22.36-40 and 28.19-20). Fellowship Church is about “Loving God – Loving People – Living Life – Together”. Though each of these actions is distinct, they are also inseparable if you want to live a fulfilling, significant life. We each have a need to believe in something bigger than ourselves and because you and I are created in God’s own image, that need is truly fulfilled only by loving and worshiping God. The purest form of love and worship for God is to dedicate yourself to a lifestyle of loving other people and yourself. We are also created for community, to be together in life, supporting one another in the everyday-ness of life. Jesus teaches us that we should love all people, even the ones who we dislike or who are very different than us, in a tangible way. Our love for God and for people is best expressed by discovering and meeting people’s needs; we all have them. Some people’s greatest needs are physical or social and Scripture tells us that God’s people should meet those needs. We all need to feel valued, loved and that our life counts for something. At Fellowship Church we believe that our purpose in life is to help people discover God’s plan for their lives and help them become everything that God desires for them to be. |
